Thema This workshop aims to explore Black culture across the globe through literature, music, and film. Grounded in cultural and literary theories of race, the workshop offers insight into the diverse expressions of Black identity and creativity. Participants will engage with a wide array of texts – ranging from canonical and contemporary literary works to pivotal contributions in music and cinema – that reflect the vibrancy and complexity of Black cultural expression. The primary aim of the workshop is to equip teachers with the theoretical frameworks and practical tools necessary to address issues of race with confidence, sensitivity, and intellectual rigor in the classroom. The workshop offers a unique opportunity to enrich our pedagogical practice, expand our cultural repertoire, and foster an inclusive and critically engaged learning environment.
